Initiation of Milarepa

The uninterrupted transmission line of the Gharwang Tulkus starts in the 14th century with siddhi Trung Mase who was identified as the omniscient emanation of the Indian mahasiddha Tilopa who had cherished the desire to spread his teachings uninterruptedly. Tilopa received his teachings directly from Vajrayogini. These teachings form the core of the Kagyu Zurmang Lineage, also known as ‘whispered in the ear by the Dakini’.
Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoché Rinpochee received several initiations and direct oral transmissions from his own source lama, the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa. He received teachings from great teachers such as Kalu Rinpoche and Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche. After Karmapa's death, Gharwang Rinpochee studied at Nalanda University between 1981 and 1991 where he graduated as the best student in 1991.
Since then, Gharwang Rinpochee has been teaching all over the world. In Europe, Asia and America. He has established his own centres in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia. He supports various charity projects such as building roads, schools, orphanages and hospitals and his own monastery on the hills of Sikkim.
